Is Bollywood Making Use of The Indian IT Industry?
The Indian IT industry is talented and powerful, yet it is hardly used in making of the Indian films. Many Indians end up working to create the special effects and the whole new concepts in the movies produced in Hollywood and elsewhere, but the ones that are produced in India still have to cling on to item numbers, vulgar scenes and dance numbers that do not fit anywhere in the movie storyline.
Why is the Indian IT power not made use of to produce world class movies like Avatar in India? Why could Avatar not have been a film produced in India by an Indian?
It seems the Indian IT industry is more of a service based one than the one that takes its own initiative. If the Indians are given the work they might do it well, but it seems they do not take the initiative to think and create a masterpiece of their own. We are still of the subdued mentality after the hundreds of years of being ruled by miserable kingdoms and then by the British.
Or is it that the Indian producers do not have the money it would take to create a world class movie? As a matter of fact, a movie produced entirely in India would cost a lot less than that is produced in Hollywood.
Or is it that there is a severe dearth of ideas. We still believe in the masala movies. We still believe that the movie audience would not leave the theater unless there is a chase and fight sequence at the end of the movie.

Most of the Bollywood directors are not computer savvy. They are still with the sadak chhaap mentality. The only guy who seems to be making the best use of technology with his own creativity is AR Rahman!
